Senior Mechanical Engineer
The Laboratory for Laser Energetics is looking for a Contract Senior Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will be challenged by a wide range of technologies employed on the fusion class OMEGA and OMEGA EP laser systems. These laser systems often demand designs that are high-precision, high-stability, and function in a class 100 cleanroom at either air or vacuum. Design areas include laser system components (mechanical, opto-mechanical, and electro-mechanical), in-house diagnostic (instrument) design, vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, and more. A minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience is required. CAD experience with UGS NX 3 or higher is required. Exact constraint, kinematic design, and GD&T (per ASME Y14.5M-1994) knowledge is desired. Experience with Ansys FEA and manufacturing experience is beneficial.
